Welcome to the section on one of the more recognized forms of dancing, Poppin' and Lockin'. Actually, Both Popping and Locking are separate dance styles, but most of the time they are used together. Popping consists of various movements of the body, mostly the arms, in fluid or robotic motions according to the beat and rythm of the music. Locking consists of a system of points and, obviously, locks, which are stop movments were a persons arms stop at certain points. Pop-Lockin' is a form that has been used sinced the late 70s/early 80s by many b-boys. Such as Boogaloo Shrimp from the 80's movie "Breakin'" and the infamous Mr. Wiggles of New York's Rocksteady Crew. This style was more of a precursor to breakin and all of the latest dance styles.
